A FAMILY STORY SETTLED IN CANNES SINCE 1953

The house

ASTOUX & BROWN

is a true Cannes institution

whose reputation has never failed since its creation.

The Beginnings of the Brewery

A Visionary Idea

In 1953, the Brun family took over the establishment on the corner of rue Félix Faure and Louis Blanc which belonged to the Astoux family.

It was Maurice Brun's intuition that transformed the establishment.

Observing the customers who came to buy their baskets of oysters, he had the simple but brilliant idea of offering a tasting on site, accompanied by a glass of white wine. Thus was born the brasserie, in its most authentic form: a modest terrace on the street, a few convivial tables, and large refrigerated display cases presenting the treasures of the sea.

Without any elaborate cuisine or chef at the beginning, the place quickly became a favorite meeting place for the people of Cannes. On weekends, regulars compete in ingenuity to get a place at one of the coveted tables and share a moment of conviviality around a seafood platter after their market.

This family history, combining tradition and simplicity, is the foundation of what makes Astoux et Brun famous today.

Birth of the fishmonger

A bold vision of the 3rd generation

It was in 2012 that the idea of opening a fish shop came to life, a project imagined and carried out with enthusiasm by Sandrine and Stéphanie Brun. An opportunity then presented itself: the purchase of a business ideally located, just opposite the family brewery.

Since its beginnings, Astoux & Brun has offered seafood to take away, but this initiative was going to give a whole new dimension to the business.

Sandrine and Stéphanie, true driving forces of the new generation, played a decisive role in the creation of this fishmonger. With a clear vision and unwavering energy, they shaped this project in their image, marking an important step in the family transmission to the 3rd generation.

By enriching the traditional offering of oysters and seafood with a selection of noble fish, they not only broadened the horizons of the fishmonger, but also helped to establish its reputation for excellence.

Today, Maison Astoux & Brun is a true Cannes institution. The 3rd generation is at the helm and this "success story" benefits from very solid foundations!

Some of them even knew the founding grandfather! This family success is the fruit of constant work and an inexorable quest: the demand for quality, traceability and respect for products.

The two “ASTOUX & BRUN” entities, “la Brasserie” and “la Boutique”, are thus managed with the same line of conduct, faithful to the credo of its creators: an exemplary transgenerational transmission!
